Who’s On Board?

The group around the table is recognized by the housing authority as the team they trust to see this project to fruition.

Dr. Pastor Hicks, Pastor

Dr. Pastor Hicks, Pastor

Pastor Hicks works tirelessly to minister to the needs of people. In fact, Faith Clinic Outreach Church Service Center is open seven days a week because he and his wife are committed to leading this Detroit institution that has been uplifting thousands of underprivileged Detroiters for more than 22 years. Services range from transitional housing and drug rehabilitation to workforce preparation and feeding programs. Outreach efforts to children and teens include counseling, mentoring, dance and athletic competitions. Pastor Hicks and Coach Tom Izzo were college teammates at Northern Michigan University in the 1970s.

Kurk Edwards

Ten years ago, God called Kurk into ministry and then into construction. He connected with Pastor Hicks to carry on the mission of his late father, the Reverend Eddie Edwards, renowned nationally for his efforts to transform Ravendale more than two decades ago. The Rev. Edwards founded the Joy of Jesus Ministries (J.O.J), an interdenominational ministry that began as an after-school program for young people. In 1990 President Bush presented him with a Point of Light Award for his work in Ravendale, a project that became the subject of a documentary. The Rev. Edwards passed in 2004 and Kurk carries on his legacy. Kurk founded Joy JEM in honor of his father after his passing.
